      Traveltogo VIP Plus Scams

Reality – results of our actual inquiries for real trips

Traveltogo promised More condos, etc than RCI

Doesn’t even have what RCI currently does

Traveltogo promised Up to 75% off wide inventory

Extremely limited, and mostly off season or unpopular areas [eg, Gulf coast after the oil spill]

      Traveltogo promised Colorado ski condos

had only ones that RCI almost always has on excess inventory. A request has been unanswered since Nov 2009

      Traveltogo promised Oregon Coast condos

Only 2 cities listed and with same condos as rci

Traveltogo promised Europe  tours for 7 -10 days for cost of airfare

      None  actually available

Traveltogo promised 2 for 1 air fares

almost impossible to actually use - Have to give 2 possible dates 45 days apart – how can we plan with such a huge difference in dates?

      Traveltogo promised $300 merchandise savings

really a 10% rebate after going thru elaborate process - Took almost a moth to get us the info, then it arrived with a 5 day signup period when they knew we were on a 6 wk vacation [NOT booked thru Traveltogo

Traveltogo promised 40-50% savings on international airfares

They can’t even MATCH what we find easily online

o   We got airfrance to geneva for $780 [Feb 2010] they quoted $850

o   We got round trip to  delhi for $1200 [ Nov 2009]– their  quote over $1300o

Traveltogo promised Hot weeks of excess inventory for low prices and specifically unavailable from RCI

o   consist primarily of excess inventory at Branson, Orlando, and other overpopulated resorts.  On 12/29/09 – only 1 listed, rci at that time had 533 resorts, 5900 units in their excess inventory

Traveltogo promised specialty in cruises and tours.

      ·         Train tours across US or Canada – nothing offered

      ·         Danube river cruise – came back with a more expensive tour, again Travel to go cou;dn’t match what we found online.

At presentation, were told that there were no complaints with BBB or state consumer protection agencies against Traveltogo

      – in fact there are dozens in a simple search “travel to go scam” on google

o   In fact they are NOT accredited w BBB and web searches revealed San Diego had kicked them out for bad business practices

o   In fact there HAD been 54 complaints in the last 36 months,

o   12/29/2009 San Diego BBB says Travel to GO’s business license Attorney General/Seller of Travel Program would expire 8/20/2009

Presenters spoke of travel 2 go as THEIR company

      ·         Once we bought a package, Travel to go disclaimed anything the presenters said, The presenters had never made the point that they were ‘simply’ a distributor for travel 2 go.

Distributor substantially misrepresented the actual company travel 2 go – t2g was described as the unit that sold to consolidators and other tour agents and that members would have access to inventory before consolidators and tour operators.  In fact, we cant even get reasonable access to what those operators have

To summarize their deal: Vacation Professionals (a.k.a. Travel To Go, VIP Travel Reservations, or Sky Travel -- that's another thing, what IS their name?) will sell you vacation packages at "wholesale prices" cutting out a consolidator and a retail agency if you join the club for a fee and pay an annual membership price.

rather than the comprehensive travel agency that was described, it appears to be a discount center for last minute excess inventory with little choice for the consumer

Other complaints of Traveltogo Vacation Scams

      Options we’re pursuing: :

      o   Wa state attorney gen

      §  1.800.551.4636 (in Washington only)

o   Ca state attorney gen – violation of seller of travel laws

      o   BBB complaint

      o   Small claims

      o   Credit card chargeback

Excerpts from another report   The 3 free vacations I was promised, and the Bahamas cruise just to get me there, all turned out to be virtually worthless, involved incredibly restrictive availability, all kinds of hidden fees and extra charges, and were basically just pieces of scrap paper when all is said and done…

I did research and found the deep
      cruise discounts
are a LIE, at least on the cruises I would want to go on. Maybe there is some good discount somewhere, but I found comparable prices on Travelocity and other websites.

I don't know about the supposed 5-star condos; another user of Ripoffreport.com complained that they were a lie too, with rundown older properties not the deluxe beachfront condos promised. I wasn't really interested in condos so cannot tell you myself. But the cruises and slippery promises and lies about their other "member benefits" really had me worried.

Further research proved that most of their so-called deep discounts were either available elsewhere with no membership fees, or were only available at the very last minute when you would have to pay a fortune in airfare to get there. In other words, the whole thing was an expensive scam….

So I filed complaints with the Attorney General and BBB in CA and RI and some other agencies. After much effort, time, and research, plus a hard fought battle with my credit card co, I have received my $$$ back in full from Travel To Go. Whew.
